Hello! I’m Kathrine – a Danish graphic designer with a deep passion for the space where design meets personal growth.

I believe in bold contrasts, imperfect harmony and the power of thoughtful design to connect us to ourselves and one another.

I’m endlessly inspired by people – by love, imperfection, and the courage it takes to be human.

Through I LOVE MY TYPE, I translate those stories into visuals that remind us to love, reflect, and celebrate the colourful process of life.

My Design Background

My Design Background

I have a background in graphic design and hold a Master’s degree from Design School Kolding, where I graduated in 2005. During my studies, I was awarded several scholarships and prizes for my work, and I had the opportunity to study abroad at universities in both England and China – experiences that gave me a broader and more international perspective on design and visual culture. Before founding I LOVE MY TYPE in 2013, I worked for a number of design agencies and as a freelancer in Copenhagen, where I developed visual identities, editorial design, and creative concepts across fashion, interior, and lifestyle brands. Over the years, I’ve been fortunate to receive recognition for my work in various design competitions, but what continues to drive me is curiosity – and the joy of learning, refining, and exploring new ways to express meaning through visuals. For me, design has always been more than aesthetics. It’s about creating connection – something that feels honest, human, and alive.

A modern family life

I live in Copenhagen, in the heart of Nørrebro, with my two children, aged 8 and 10. We share our time in a loving 7/7 arrangement with their dad, Thomas, who has been an important part of our journey – both as family and as part of I LOVE MY TYPE in the early years. Today, I run the brand on my own, from my studio in Nordvest, surrounded by the everyday life, people, and colours that inspire me most. It’s a modern family life – sometimes a little chaotic, always full of love, and deeply rooted in what matters most: connection, creativity, and heart.

From Copenhagen to the World

I started I LOVE MY TYPE from my small studio in Copenhagen – simply because I felt a need to combine my love for design with my passion for personal growth. What began as a few printed words of encouragement slowly grew into a design universe that has reached people all over the world. Over the years, our art prints and stationery have been sold both directly to individuals and through design stores and museum shops, including Illums Bolighus and the Danish Architecture Center. I LOVE MY TYPE has been featured in numerous magazines, newspapers, and online media – with larger articles and interviews that have helped share our story and values. We’ve also collaborated with brands and organisations such as Boligmagasinet and WWF, and have created several pop-up stores and exhibitions, including in New York – each time exploring new ways of bringing design and emotion together. It’s been a journey shaped by curiosity, connection, and the belief that meaningful design can travel far when it speaks from the heart.

I LOVE MY TYPE is more than a name – it’s a message.

It’s a daily reminder that love is the foundation of everything we do – in life, in work, and in the way we see ourselves.

Every product we create is made with love: for design, for paper, for beauty, for people, and for the imperfect process of becoming.

The name I LOVE MY TYPE has a double meaning. It denotes both my passion for typographic design and is a declaration of self-appreciation. You should love yourself, whatever type you are – Kathrine Højris, founder and designer
